The Recharge line of plug-in hybrid and fully electric cars represented 21.9% of the total sales for the month, with fully electric cars making up 5.7%.

The manufacturer reported that supply chain issues with semiconductors as well as Covid-19 outbreaks in China affected its results. However, sales in China rose by 31% in August to 17,179 cars.

European sales fell by 15.8% last month to 10,995 while sales in the U.S. reached 8,136, a drop of 23.9% year-on-year.

Volvo’s top-selling model for the month was the XC60 with sales of 16,161, followed by the XC40 at 9,766 cars and the XC90 at 7,678 cars.
