The winner of the competition’s 10th edition is Balbina Brunell from Parsons School of Fashion in New York City, U.S., for the collection “An Analogy of Tarnished Culture”.

This collection, she said, explores gestures of traditional cultural expression in strongly sculptural forms that can be bags, containers and body ornament.

The overall winner of Craft the Leather receives a cash prize from the consortium as a contribution to continuing their education.

In addition to the main winner, the jury also expressed a special mention for the “Wearing Etiquette” collection by Shiyu Gong from the London College of Fashion in London.

Meanwhile, “Leather Waves” by Alessandro Brienza of the Accademia Italiana in Florence won the in-person vote at Lineapelle, and the “Eternal Vitality” collection by Bingbing Bai of Kingston University in London won the social media vote.
