Organisers VGCT and IULTCS say 150 abstract submissions have been received so far covering all kinds of topics, from fundamental collagen research to all steps of the leather manufacturing process. The topic of sustainability will have a high significance within the scientific programme, including cleaner technologies, close loop processes, utilisation of tannery waste and residues, resource-friendly technologies. The machinery and automation session will include presentations of automation and technological specialists, Lectra and Incotec.

This edition of the Congress will also address the principle of a sustainable congress management, comprising all areas involved in congress organisation; mobility and traffic, location and accommodation, procurement and services, food and catering, waste management and waste avoidance as well as social aspects. “The aim is to reduce the environmental impact to a minimum”, say VGCT and IULTCS.
