Julian Osgood, the Sales Director for Yorchem, said, “That business growth over the last few years has been steady, despite the difficult global economic climate, Yorchem has now reached a point where due to constant growth in the number of customers and orders, investment in new equipment to satisfy production was necessary. Unfortunately the size of our factory in Eaglescliffe was approaching capacity. While we were considering moving our factory to a larger purpose built site in our area, we were extremely fortunate that our neighbour in Eaglescliffe made the decision to sell their site.

We have recently introduced a new range of Car Care Products, born out of our very successful Leather After Care products, for us this is a new and exciting opportunity and extra space was needed to satisfy production demands.”

During this expansion process Yorchem also took the opportunity to apply for and achieve ISO9001. “Although we have always worked to the exacting standards required for ISO accreditation, we had not invested the necessary time and effort to actually register.” said Darren Strafford, Managing Director, “although it is not absolutely necessary to have this certification, we felt that it would benefit, us as well as many of our customers, who look for these qualifications to underline the perception of a quality manufacturer.”

Julian Osgood also commentated, “The Leather Finishing Chemical sector is experiencing some very profound changes with continued rationalisation of multinationals, despite these major changes it is good to see that small privately owned manufactures can still hold their own, giving the tanneries of the world real choice.”
